BENDER is a wood and epoxy power boat that can be built by the average home builder. The bottom is plywood and the topsides are strip planked to produce the flair forward. There are two stringers outboard and three plywood frames. A 30 gal. fuel tank is located under the sole.
The interior was finished with brushed on gelcoat with nonskid to produce a durable and low maintenance interior. The topsides were faired and painted with Awlgrip.
Total construction time was around 400 hrs and the materials for the hull cost $5,000. With a 90 hp outboard, BENDER will cruise at 25 knots and top out at 32 knots.
